Suit Filed against Bernalillo County for Inmate Assaulted in Jail

Our client was an inmate at the Metropolitan Detention Center who suffered severe head and brain injuries when he was attacked by another inmate due to a dispute over a tablet computer. We intend to show that Bernalillo County created a dangerous situation in the jail by introducing a limited number of tablet computers into each pod of the jail and by failing to establish adequate protocols and systems to ensure that disputes regarding the tablet computers would not escalate into inmate-on-inmate violence.

In conjunction with Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (“CREW”), Freedman, Boyd, Hollander & Goldberg, P.A., and the Law Office of Amber Fayerberg, LLC, Dodd Law Office represents three New Mexican citizens in seeking to remove Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin from office for his participation in the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the United States Capitol.
